Ustna zagotovila, da bo država sofinancirala celovito prenovo Rotovškega trga so včeraj rezultirala tudi v pisnem sklepu vlade. Center Rotovž, kjer bodo poleg nove Mariborske knjižnice prostor našle še Umetnostna galerija Maribor, Artkino in nekatere druge vsebine, bo stal nekaj več kot 25 milijonov evrov, stroške prenove pa si bosta razdelili država in Mestna občina Maribor.

Vse torej kaže, da se po več kot desetletju iskanja rešitve za Mariborsko knjižnico, Rotovškemu trgu končno obeta celovita prenova. Država se je namreč zavezala, da bo zagotovila polovico denarja za izvedbo investicije, sredstva pa so že zajeta na proračunski postavki Investicije v kulturi.

Prenovljen Rotovški trg bo po besedah župana Saše Arsenoviča temu območju dal nov razvojni potencial, saj bo preko povezave Glavnega trga in Slomškovega trga bolje povezal tudi Dravo in Mestni park.

Tokrat torej naj ne bi ostalo samo pri besedah in načrtih, predvidena je že časovnica začetka del. Vrednost celotne investicije je 25,4 milijona evrov. V kolikor kohezijskih sredstev za svoj delež investicije Mestna občina Maribor ne bo pridobila, bo denar zagotovila z najemom kredita.

Občutnega premika na Rotovškem trgu so sicer še najbolj veseli v Mariborski knjižnici, kjer že več let opozarjajo na premajhne in dotrajane prostore knjižnice.
